Contract Release for Hancock Lee (June 12, 1789)

12 June 1789
To ALL PEOPLE TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME: Know Ye, that I George Mason of Fairfax County in the Commonwealth of Virginia for and in consideration of Hancock Lee of the County of Fauquier having to my satisfaction fulfilled his agreement and Contract with me so far as the same respects or relates to the entering locating and Surveying two tracts of Land in the District of Kentucky upon the upper or South East side of Panther Creek the one of eight thousand four hundred acres and the other above and adjoining thereto of eight thousand three hundred acres: Have released acquitted exonerated and for ever discharged and by these presents for myself my heirs executors and administrators. Do release acquit exonerate and for ever discharge the said Hancock Lee his heirs executors and administrators, of and from all and any agreement contract or convenant whatsoever made entered into or contracted by the said Hancock Lee with me the said George Mason, touching concerning or in any manner relating to the entering locating or Surveying the said two before mentioned tracts of land or either of them; the Surveys of both which said tracts of land have been duly returned into the land Office, and the Survey of one of them viz: the tract of eight thousand acres, hath been in part Caveated by William Fleming and Richard Adams, and the Survey of the other viz: the tract of eight thousand three hundred acres hath been Caveated by George Wilson: and I do by these presents acknowledge that the manner in which the said two before mentioned tracts of Land and each of them, have been entered located and Surveyed, hath had, and still hath my full approbation. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twelfth day of June in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.
