Edmund Randolph to George Mason (December 6, 1786)

Richmond December 6 1786
SIR
I was in hopes of seeing you at the present Assembly, where I might have requested your acceptance of the inclosed appointment. But as I cannot have the pleasure of a personal interview, give me leave to call to your mind the tottering condition of the United States, and to press you into this Service, if your health should permit. I have the honor to be &c.
[EDMUND RANDOLPH]
