I fancy the Antifœderalists with you wish to be let down easy, or they would not shew so much satisfaction at Madison's amendments—Like a sensible physician he has given his malades imaginaires bread pills powder of paste & neutral mixtures to keep them in play—I am really glad of this disposition in them having greatly feared that as such amendments were not wanted by the federal party so they would not at all have come up to the hopes of the anti-federal.
