George Mason to Martin Cockburn (December 1, 1788)

Gunston-Hall Decemr. 1st: 1788.
D[EA]R SIR
Upon examining my Stock of Paper this morning I find I have half a Rheam of single paper, exactly of the Size of what you were so kind to send me: the Quire you sent is therefore return'd with Mr. Carter's Letter. Colo. Tayler, I find, seems very certain of reversing the Decree of Fairfax County Court; indeed I never had the least doubt of it, for in my Opinion, there hardly ever was a Decree more contrary to every Principle of Law & Justice. Such is the Consequence of making Merchants & Men totally unacquainted with the Laws & Constitution of the Country Judges of our Courts. I am, Dr. Sir, Yr. affecte. & obdt, Sert.
G Mason
