Nathan Dane to George Thatcher (May 31, 1789)

As to amendments—I do not think them as difficult as to the principal points it has ever appeared to me that one party has contended but for little more than the other has admitted...
Will not declaring the rights expressly and fortifying the liberties of the Country more explicity induce confidence and there by in fact add Strength to the government, produce punctuality in the execution of the laws, and make a system good in the outlines of it, more complete.
