Resolution Allowing Georgia Recruiting Officers to Seek Enlistments in Virginia (December 18, 1776)

[18 December 1776]
Resolved, as it is essential to the safety of the American cause that the southern states should be speedily put on such a respectable footing as may enable them to resist the attempts of the common enemy, that therefore the Georgia officers be permitted to raise as many men in this commonwealth as shall be sufficient to complete the quota of continental troops required from that state, under the like restrictions as were heretofore imposed on the officers from South Carolina who have been permitted to recruit men in this state.
